On 10 August 2026, BSE equities crossed P1 trillion in combined market capitalisation for the first time, driven by a 4.40 percent single session gain in Anglo American. Anglo American accounts for approximately 89.5 percent of all BSE listed equity value, with the remaining 32 listed equity counters across both boards accounting for the balance. Single counter concentration at this degree is materially higher than any verified peer: Kenya's Safaricom represents 36 to 44 percent of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, MTN Ghana around 32.3 percent of the Ghana Stock Exchange, and Naspers roughly 2.8 percent of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange currently. The milestone is real. So is the composition. Edition 11 of The Capital Brief examines both, explains who Anglo American is and what its BSE listing actually means, and features the Continental Reinsurance public offer opening at P1.00 per share.
